Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing assault against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.

It said debris landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some property damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
