Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday night. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on December 29th, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.

Remembering the Victims

The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”

The news of his discharge comes as the sports world shared sympathy for the star in the following the devastating accident.
